Chapter History

Phi Mu colonized the Theta Kappa Colony at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama on April 18, 2008. In April, Phi Mu recruited a group of outstanding women who exhibit our three values of love, honor, and truth. Theta Kappa Colony members were formally pledged on April 27, 2008. Chapter Theta Kappa at Huntingdon College was initiated and chartered on November 2, 2008 with 25 members.

For the 2008-2009 school year, Theta Kappa was awarded the Outstanding New Member Program Award, Outstanding New Chapter Advisor to Mrs. Linda Tilly and Greek Woman of the Year to their Chapter President, Angie Bradley. They also had several members awarded for their scholastic achievements.

In the 2009-2010 school year, Phi Mu had many fun times. We had an "Ahoy, Matey" swap with the brothers of Sigma Nu, a "Casino Night" swap with the brothers of Kappa Sigma, and a "Back to Spring Break" swap with the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Theta Kappa sisters also attended an "Arabian Nights" semi-formal in the fall and our "Pink Carnation Ball" in the spring. We also renewed the tradition of the Red Lady Run at Huntingdon College. We painted our faces and went dorm to dorm with fellow sorority members screaming at the tops of our lungs.

During the Fall 2010 recruitment, Theta Kappa reached quota for the first time, and we seek to continue that success into the future. We again participated in the Red Lady Run and in the same week hosted our adopted Children's Miracle Network child, Alex Kash and her mother, Maria Kash, for a trick or treat night in our chapter room. In November, Theta Kappa sisters dressed up as couples for our "Meant for Each Other" semi-formal at Shashy's, a local bakery. In the spring, we held Phi Mu Fish Pong and raised money for the Children's Miracle Network.

During the 2011 and 2012 semester, Phi Mu reached a new height in sisterhood! We had a "margaritaville" swap with the brothers of Kappa Sigma and a "Battle of the Sexes" swap with the brothers of Sigma Nu. We also danced the night away at a Maquerade semi-formal and the Pink Carnation Ball! At Greek Awards, Tiffany Dean was awarded with Greek Woman of the Year and Linda Tilly was awarded with the Greek Adviser of the year! Overall it was a great year filled with beautiful memories! We go into the next semester with high hopes for our sisterhood!

Theta Kappa has grown leaps and bounds, and enjoyed every moment along the way. We are so very thankful for every woman we can call our sister. We seek to "practice day by day, love, honor, and truth. Thus keeping true to the meaning, spirit, and reality of Phi Mu." Theta Kappa looks ahead to the future and what it has to offer, always remembering the past.
